Voter participation is expected to be heavy today and to help combat that, there are the nearly 1000 extra poll workers on site at polling places across Oklahoma.

In spite of the additional help, long lines are still likely so you might consider bringing a chair.

Also, the 2016 ballot is a long one. Make sure you know what is on it before going to the polls.

If you can, choose your voting times wisely. Considering the likelihood of the longest lines before work, during the lunch hour, and after work. Voters can save time by voting during off peak hours, usually from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Also know the law, electioneering within 300 feet of a ballot box is a misdemeanor. Electioneering includes the wearing of campaign buttons, t-shirts, or other paraphernalia, and advocating for candidates.

Polls are open statewide today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
