We’re moving into a warming trend for the rest of the week before a strong cold front will bring temperatures back down for the weekend.

Earlier in the morning there was a dense fog advisory for much of northeast Oklahoma.

Weather Alerts

Our daytime highs may move near 80 both Wednesday and Thursday with strong south winds ahead of the Friday front.   Temperatures will drop below the seasonal average this weekend with a possibly freeze for part of eastern Ok Sunday morning.   The early outlook for Thanksgiving may bring another storm system near the area by the middle to end of next week.

Temperatures are currently in the mid to upper 40s across eastern OK this morning with light and variable winds and this has resulted in some patchy fog in a few spots. This will not last long and we’ll experience pleasant conditions today with highs in the mid-70s.

A strong upper level system will soon deepen across the western U.S. and will eject into the central plains Thursday and Friday.   A surface area of low pressure will develop across part of eastern Colorado or southeastern Wyoming and our winds will increase from the south at 15 to 25 mph tonight into Wednesday.   Stronger south winds from 20 to 35 mph will be likely Wednesday into Thursday and wind advisory criteria may be reached for part of the state during this period.   Temperatures will also climb with daytime highs nearing 80 Wednesday and Thursday with south winds attempting to bring low level moisture back across eastern OK Thursday night or early Friday morning.  Before this occurs, the fire danger will be increasing across part of the state Wednesday and especially Thursday, so please use caution and avoid burning during these strong winds by the middle of the week.

As the strong cold front arrives a narrow line of storm activity may develop across eastern OK either late Thursday night or Friday morning ahead of the front but current data support this activity may remain east of the Tulsa metro.   Northwest winds will develop by the midday to afternoon and cooler air will invade eastern OK with highs dropping into the lower 60s.   Friday night looks chilly for the 2nd round of the OK High school football playoffs.

The weekend will feature chilly conditions.   Lows in the mid to upper 30s Saturday will climb into the mid-50s for afternoon highs along with sunshine and pleasant conditions.

Sunday morning the dry air and light winds may allow for a widespread freeze across part of eastern OK.

The upper air flow should bring another strong looking system into the plains by Tuesday or Wednesday, just in time for the kick-off into the Thanksgiving Holiday period.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
