Tulsa John 3:16 Mission Looks To Community For More Thanksgiving Turkey Donations

The call was put out and Tulsans responded, donating thousands of canned goods and turkeys to John 3:16. But with Thanksgiving less than a week away, more donations are still needed. 

The easiest way to help is when you go to the grocery store and pick out a can for supper grab two, one for you and one to donate.

Last week, John 3:16 said they needed turkeys for families that won't be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal this year.

With the donations, 3,000 families will be able to get a meal this year.

“People have really been generous with us,” said John 3:16 director Steve Whitaker. “Thousands of turkeys have come in." 

But the volunteers at John 3:16 are hoping to help more and need your help.

"We want to make sure we meet the needs of everybody,” said Whitaker. “We don't want anybody to get turned away."  

They are looking for an additional 1,000 turkeys between now and Wednesday. Still, the recent outpouring of support has left leaders there speechless.  

"I can't tell you how happy I am,” Whitaker stated. “That's such a wonderful thing. If you could just have been here to see car after car, vehicle after vehicle, organization after organization bringing the turkeys in, that's an exciting time for us here." 

You can stop by any John 3:16 location to drop off your donations.

Again, they are looking for turkeys but any canned goods are also welcome and needed.
