The Golden Hurricane improved to 8-3 with a 35-20 victory over Central Florida Saturday night in Orlando.

James Flanders got Tulsa on the board with a one-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to cut the deficit 8-7 at the 3:10 mark.

D’Angelo Brewer stepped up early in the second quarter with a short rush to the end zone to put the Golden Hurricane ahead 14-8.

Later in the quarter, the Knights scored to make it a 14-all game going into halftime.

TU opened the second half hot with a 15-yard scoring connection from Dane Evans to Josh Atkinson and 45-yard scoring connection to Keevan Lucas.

The two touchdowns helped elevate the Golden Hurricane lead, 28-14.

Brewer kept it rolling, recording his second TD on the day with an eight-yard rush to push TU ahead 35-14 to end the third quarter.

Central Florida showed a little life in the fourth with a score, but Tulsa’s special teams blocked the extra point attempt to preserve a 35-20 advantage.

At this point, TU had recorded over 300 rushing yards for the fourth time this season, setting a new program record.

TU held its lead to win.
