Tulsa’s first two freezes of the fall season have been a bit of a shock to the system this weekend, but we are in for a nice Sunday warm-up to help us thaw out a bit!

A return to a south wind will allow temperatures to climb more quickly for our Sunday, although it will be a very chilly breeze for runners in the Route 66 Marathon during the morning hours. Afternoon highs look to rebound to around the 60 degree mark under mostly sunny skies. Those south winds will become a bit breezy by the afternoon hours, with some gusts over 15-20 miles per hour expected.

We’ll be in for another very chilly morning Monday to kick off a short work week, though a light south breeze should keep our overnight lows a little above freezing in the mid to upper 30s by early Monday. As that south breeze continues, so does the warm-up with highs climbing several degrees above average into the mid 60s Monday afternoon on what should be another very pleasant day.

Clouds will be on the increase Tuesday as our next storm system moves into Oklahoma. Winds may gust over 30 miles per hour on Tuesday ahead of our next front, which will try to trigger some scattered showers and storms across eastern Oklahoma late Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Right now, the best chances for storms appear to be in our eastern counties generally east of Tulsa with this system.

That next cold front won’t pack nearly the same punch as our previous cold front did, but it will bring our temperatures back down to seasonable values for travel day Wednesday and Thanksgiving Thursday with morning lows dipping back into the 30s and afternoon highs back in the upper 50s to low 60s.

If you’re planning on staying home for the holiday, the weather is shaping up very nicely here in the Sooner State!
