Two back-to-back earthquakes shook Cushing Tuesday morning.

The Oklahoma Geological Survey says these are likely aftershocks to the destructive magnitude 5.0 earthquake that shook the region earlier this month.

The earthquakes are thought to be caused by disposal wells in the area, and the shaking around Cushing threatens the oil tank field nearby.

The Oklahoma Oil and Gas Association says the earthquakes are impacting production in that area.

"This morning's quakes, although are a disappointment, they're not that big of a surprise. A lot of scientists have told us to expect more of that activity," said

Chad Warmington, Oklahoma Oil and Gas Association President.

But they also pointed out that the number of earthquakes is declining.

The Geological Survey said it is still researching the earthquakes across Oklahoma.
