Alan Crone: Thanksgiving Weather Conditions Across The U.S.

Travel weather appears good for most locations across the southern and central plains, including the state today and through most of the Thanksgiving Holiday period.    

The front that brought showers and storms to eastern Oklahoma last night continues to bring precipitation to a broad area today across the Midwest through the Mid-South from places like Chicago to Mississippi.  Locations across the upper Midwest into the Great Lakes area may experience winter precipitation as this system migrates eastward today and into the far northeastern U.S. Thanksgiving Day.  

Winter weather advisories are underway today for some locations across Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Some rain will linger along the Atlantic seaboard region Thursday.  

A storm system will move across the Pacific northwest today with rain and windy conditions.   Snow will be likely in the higher elevations across the intermountain region.  This system will also eject eastward later tonight and impact part of the northern high plains Thursday.   

Weather across Oklahoma will be pleasant until Sunday when a strong upper level system will near the Rockies.  Strong south winds from 20 to near 35 mph will be likely Sunday along with a chance for scattered storms Sunday night and early Monday across the eastern third of the state.   

High fire danger conditions may develop Sunday across far western Oklahoma due to the influence of dry conditions and the strong winds.
