Cowboy Quick Hitters

• Jawun Evans has scored at least 30 points in both of his Maui Invitational games, and in three of his five games this season. He leads the Big 12 with a scoring average of 27.0 points per game, and is shooting 52.8 percent from the floor. What's more, the Bob Cousy Award and Naismith Trophy watch list selection actually gets better against tougher competition.
• Evans joins Central Michigan's Marcus Keene as the only players in the country with three 30-point scoring performances this season.
• Evans has reached the 30-point plateau in each of the last two games. No player in Oklahoma State history has ever scored at least 30 points in three consecutive games. Against UNC, Evans became the fifth OSU player to ever score 30 points in back-to-back games and the first since Marshall Moses in 2010-11.
• Just five games into the season, Evans is already tied for 10th in program history for 30-point games in a season with three. Byron Houston owns the school record in that category with eight 30-point performances in 1990-91. His four career 30-point games already rank seventh in OSU history.
• The Cowboys suffered their first defeat of the young season at the hands of the No. 4/4 North Carolina Tar Heels. The all-time series between OSU and UNC is now tied at 1-1, with the only other appearance coming in the 1946 NCAA championship game. Then Oklahoma A&M took down North Carolina, 43-40, to win the title in Madison Square Garden.
• OSU allowed an opponent to reach the 100-point mark for just the 21st time in school history. North Carolina's point total of 107 is tied for the eighth most allowed by an OSU squad and the 32-point margin is also tied for the eighth largest in OSU history.
• Brad Underwood suffered his first defeat as the head coach at OSU. He is now 93-15 in four seasons as a head coach, and his .861 win percentage is tops among all active Division I coaches.
• Oklahoma State entered Tuesday's contest with the nation's third ranked scoring offense with an average of 104.8 points per game. OSU had scored over 100 points in each of its first three games, and reached 98 points against UConn in the Maui Invite opener.
• Phil Forte now has 1,393 career points, which moves him into sole possession of 17th place in Oklahoma State history.
• Forte also now has 256 career 3-pointers, which ranks third in OSU history. The redshirt-senior is just 43 shy of tying Keiton Page (OSU's current assistant director of player development) for the school record.

Up Next

• The Cowboys will face Georgetown in the third-place game of the Maui Invitational at 2:30 p.m. HAT (6:30 p.m. Central) on ESPN2.
• This will be the first ever meeting between Oklahoma State and Georgetown, who will enter Wednesday's game with a 2-3 mark. The Hoyas fell to Wisconsin, 73-57, in the Maui Invite semifinals.
• The Cowboys are 40-36 all-time against current members of the Big East Conference. OSU was a Missouri Valley Conference-mate with Creighton for several years, and is 19-21 all time against the Blue Jays.
