Tulsa Man Arrested For Hitting, Killing Pedestrian

Police say a pedestrian is dead and the 56-year-old Tulsa driver involved in the fatal accident late Friday has been arrested.

The driver, Malerva Hernandez was booked into the Tulsa County jail.

Officers say a woman called 911 and told police her friend told her he had hit someone walking in the 12300 block of 41st Street near Garnett just before midnight, but didn't stop.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police located the victim's body lying in a ditch.  Investigators then found the car involved parked at a nearby apartment complex and after he was questioned, took Malerva Hernandez into custody.

Jail records show Hernandez is being held on complaints of first-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury accident.  He has a court appearance set for December 2nd.
