Cloudy skies, very gusty winds, and scattered showers are all on tap for our Sunday across eastern Oklahoma.

South winds will steadily increase throughout the day, with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour or stronger possible by the afternoon hours. With thick clouds in place, our temperatures won’t move very much today with highs only in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.

A few sprinkles are possible during the morning hours, but scattered showers become more likely this afternoon across northeast Oklahoma. Most showers will be pretty light, with rainfall amounts of a quarter inch or less in most locations. A few embedded storms may develop by late afternoon into early this evening.

WARN Interactive Radar

An additional round of stronger and more organized storms is likely to develop late overnight into early Monday morning along a cold front, but this activity looks to occur primarily east of Tulsa across our far eastern and southeastern counties. A few strong to severe storms could occur Monday morning in our far eastern and southeastern counties, with damaging winds the biggest threat.

A persistent very strong south wind will keep our temperatures basically steady in the upper 50s overnight into Monday morning. As skies begin to clear on Monday behind that front, we should recover to the upper 60s for afternoon highs.

After Monday, we’ll begin another steady trend down in temperatures as a reinforcing shot of chillier air begins to arrive. We’ll drop back closer to the 60 degree mark for highs on Tuesday, and we’ll then settle back into the 50s for highs by the middle of the week before some even colder air surges in by next weekend.
