Faulty Wiring Blamed For Early Morning Tulsa House Fire

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Firefighters say a Tulsa family is safe after faulty wiring sparked an attic fire early Thursday.

The fire department was called to the home in the 4500 block of North Frankfort Avenue at about 3 a.m.  Firefighters say the fire started in the home's attic.

They said the residents first noticed the lights flickering on and off, then fire starting coming through the ceiling of one room.

Three adults and two children were inside but firefighters say they made it out safely.

The home is not a total loss but Fire Captain Spencer Yeager says the family will not be able to stay there anytime soon.

"It was so much insulation and stuff...it was an overhaul project getting that insulation out of there. We lost a lot of the ceiling with all of the water we had to use up there and everything," said TFD Captain Spencer Yeager.

He says the Red Cross is helping that family find a place to stay until they're able to move back in.
