A judge denied a request for a new trial for a former Tulsa Police officer convicted of two counts of reckless conduct with a firearm last month.
Shannon Kepler was charged with shooting and killing his daughter's boyfriend, Jeremey Lake, in 2014.
Last month a jury deadlocked on the murder charge, but convicted him on two counts of reckless conduct with a firearm.
Kepler's attorney asked for a new trial on the firearms charges, saying they should have been filed as a single charge.
On Thursday, December 1, 2016, the judge denied the request. That means Kepler's sentence on those convictions will remain one year.
Kepler still faces a second trial for that murder. That trial is set for February 2017.
