Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) are reportedly looking into a deadly shooting that happened in Cordell, Wednesday night.

Police were called out to the home, located in the 1300 block of N. Grant St., around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers found the victim, identified as 78-year-old Roy Lee Weeaks, critically injured with a gunshot wound to the chest in front of the home. Weeaks was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Weeaks got into a verbal altercation with someone inside of the home. Weeaks was asked to leave, but the argument escalated and at least one shot was fired. Both Weeaks and the shooter, who has not yet been identified, were armed, according to investigators.

Agents are still looking into evidence. The District Attorney will determine if the shooting was self-defense.
