People across Green Country are victims of a credit card theft ring. So far, there are victims from Glenpool, Jenks, Bixby, Sand Springs and Coweta.

Someone is stealing people's debit card numbers, using the numbers to make new cards then going to area Walmarts for shopping sprees.

Sunday, Randy Hazelwood discovered someone was using his debit card to run up $1,400 worth of charges at Walmarts in Cleveland, Skiatook, Collinsville, Owasso and south Tulsa - each purchase for $150 to $180.

“It’s pretty upsetting,” Hazelwood said.

The bank will refund him the money, but not for 10 days; luckily he works at a refinery and also has a lawn business, so he said he'll be okay.

"Some people wouldn't know what to do. They're financially strapped for cash and a large portion is taken out. That could mean food on the table for somebody," Hazelwood said.

Police are getting similar reports all over Green Country.

Police gave us surveillance video from the Glenpool Walmart that shows two men. They start with buying some small items like clothing, then you can see them try card after card until they get one that works.

Sergeant Tracy Powell with Glenpool Police said, "They went through at least six cards a piece until they found one that worked then made multiple transactions."

Police aren't sure how they're getting the victims' numbers but said they're even duplicating the chip cards that are supposed to be more secure. They urge everyone to check their accounts daily for any unauthorized expenses from Walmart.

If you've been a victim, file a police report.
