Kiowa Officer Involved In Fatal Shooting Will Not Face Charges

The Kiowa officer involved in a fatal shooting will not face charges, according to the McAlester News Capitol.

In January 2017, 50-year-old Marvin Washington was killed during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Highway 69.

At the time, a news release stated that “during the frisk, the officer felt a gun in the man’s coat pocket. The man began to struggle with the officer, trying to pull the gun from his coat pocket.”

Washington was told to stop struggling, then, police said the officer fired his weapon. They said Washington was wounded and later died at the hospital.

According to the McAlester News Capitol, District 18 District Attorney Chuck Sullivan made his decision to not file charges after reviewing information from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
