TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police and fire responded after a truck crashed into a building in west Tulsa. A Dodge pickup hit the back of an apartment building in the 2600 block of West 40th Place around 8:30 a.m.

A table and a child's swing were visible inside.

The driver and passenger were going to switch seats, and the pickup was left in drive, according to Officer Tommy Barbee, Tulsa Police Department. It was on a downward slope and crashed into the apartment building, knocking a significant hole in the wall, authorities said.

One of the people switching cars tried to jump into the truck to stop it and suffered an injury to his knee, News On 6 was told. We don't know if he was taken to the hospital.

"We believe the driver's side rear tire actually struck his knee," Barbee said.

No one else was hurt though there was someone inside at the time. Fortunately, they were on the second floor and weren't hit.

The truck hit a structural beam in what used to be a commercial building and has been converted to a couple of apartments. Tulsa firefighters assisted in stabilizing the structure.
