Wagoner Man Charged With Murder In Shooting Death

Wagoner Police confirmed a body found Sunday morning is a murder victim who disappeared Friday.

Suspected Killer Joshua Blaylock was arrested and will stay in jail without bond while investigators wrap up work that led them to the woods near Lake Keystone to find the victim.

Wagoner Police Chief Bob Haley said the victim, 26-year-old Danny Potts, was shot once in the head and died right away, but his killer drove more than 60 miles to get rid of the body.

“He panicked. He was trying to get away from where he was,” Haley said.

It started with an argument and a shooting at a house Friday afternoon. Witnesses told police Blaylock shot Potts then dragged him outside to a truck and left.

Detectives put out a picture asking for leads and a tip led first to the truck then to the suspect.

Police said Blaylock confessed and led them to where he buried the body.

Jack Thorp, First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp said, “Osage County Sheriff’s Office and Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, this was a joint team investigation.”

Officers from several counties were in on the search and arrest, and now prosecutors have filed a murder charge against Blaylock.

Officers said Potts was shot inside the house but wouldn't say why the two were arguing.

More details will come out when Blaylock goes to court Tuesday, May 2nd.

The Potts family is now preparing for a funeral planned for Monday in Wagoner.
