Hope you’ve got the sunscreen handy! We’ve got plenty of sunshine to go around for our Saturday and throughout the weekend!

High pressure settling across Oklahoma and Texas will keep the dry weather going today with hardly a cloud in the sky expected. As that high pressure slides slowly off to the east, we’ll return to a light westerly wind by the afternoon hours. Look for another very nice warm-up with afternoon highs climbing into the low 80s!

The only drawback (if you want to call it that) to today’s gorgeous weather: It’s sunburn season! The UV Index will be in the “very high” category today, meaning you could get a sunburn in as little as 15 minutes. Use the sunscreen early and often!

A very weak boundary will approach northeastern Oklahoma late tonight, but it should do little more than briefly switch our winds around overnight. After another cool start Sunday with lows in the 50s, we should climb easily back into the low to mid 80s Sunday afternoon under another day of mostly sunny skies and an increasing southerly breeze.

If you’re thinking about attempting a trip out on area lakes, please be careful! Many of our eastern Oklahoma lakes remain anywhere from 10 to 30 feet above normal right now after April’s recent rains. Large releases are ongoing at most lakes, and many beach areas and docks are flooded right now as well.

Sunshine and warm weather look to stick around right into the beginning of next week as southerly breezes continue. Mornings will become increasingly mild with lows holding in the 60s by early to mid-week, with highs continuing to climb into the 80s.

Clouds will gradually increase by Tuesday and Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure aloft begins to break down, allowing our next storm system to approach by late week. Storm chances begin to increase by late Wednesday and continue into Thursday as our next cold front arrives. This will be our next chance for some locally heavy rain across eastern Oklahoma, and that front will bring some noticeably cooler air by the end of next week.

But until that next system arrives, enjoy the sunny skies and warm weather!
