OHP: Afton Man Critical After Stepping In Front Of Passing Car

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a 31-year-old Afton man was struck and injured after getting out of a car parked on a Delaware County highway late Friday.

He is identified as Justin Ruhl.

Troopers said the accident happened about a half a mile south of the Duck Creek bridge on Highway 85 just after 10:15 p.m.

The OHP report states Ruhl, who was a passenger in a 2013 Chevy Cruze parked in the northbound lane of the highway.  Ruhl got out and stepped into the southbound lane, where he was struck by a northbound 2012 Chevy Cruze which was passing the parked car.

Justin Ruhl was flown by medical helicopter to a Joplin hospital and admitted in critical condition.

The driver of the second car, 18-year-old Magen Faulcone of Vinita was not injured.
