Dozens Honor Fallen Tulsa Officers

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Dozens turned out Saturday to remember Tulsa police officers who have passed away.

One of them is Seargent John Herrod.

Herrod was the first TPD officer killed in the line of duty, 100 years ago.

Since then, 39 Tulsa officers have been killed while on the job.

"When this happens, there's quite a bit of pain involved,” said Retired TPD Officer Steve Downie. “So, anything you can do that can help the people who are dealing with it is good."

Last year, two active duty and 15 retired TPD officers died.
