Mother’s Day weekend is upon us, and we’ve got plenty of sunshine to go around for our Saturday and throughout the weekend!

High pressure settling across Oklahoma will help usher in calm conditions, setting us up for perfect weather to get outside and enjoy! Sunny skies are expected throughout the day with highs climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s. Winds will also remain light with that high pressure in place.

Once again, the only drawback to today’s gorgeous weather: Watch out for sunburns! The UV Index is back in the “very high” category today, meaning you could get a sunburn in as little as 15 minutes. Use the sunscreen early and often!

We’ll keep the stretch of sunny and warm weather going right on into Mother’s Day Sunday! A stronger south breeze will return for the afternoon hours, but it will again be plenty warm to celebrate mom with highs in the low to mid 80s.

If you’re thinking about attempting a float trip out on the Illinois River, be aware that water levels are still running a bit high and fast thanks to all our recent rains. The Grand River Dam Authority is recommending that children do *not* float this weekend with the current river conditions.

Sunshine and very warm weather look to stick around right into the beginning of next week as southerly breezes continue. Mornings will become increasingly mild with lows starting to hold in the 60s by early in the week, with highs pushing into the upper 80s on Monday!

Clouds will gradually increase by Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure aloft breaks down, putting us back in a setup favorable for stormy conditions by mid-week. The first chance of storms looks to come Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with a few severe storms possible.

Weather Alerts

Several additional rounds of storms are expected into Thursday and Friday as well, and once again severe weather and localized flooding will be concerns. As always, we’ll keep you advised!
