Youth from Eastland Baptist Church in Tulsa worked hard Saturday to clean up a section of east Tulsa. It was a way to fund their upcoming mission trip to Nicaragua this summer.
Youth Pastor John Mardirosian said local businesses and individuals sponsored the trash clean up to help fund the trip to the poorest country in Central American.
While in Nicaragua, the youth group will provide food to children and others living at three different city dumps, take means to local hospitals for family members of hospitalized people, conduct soccer tournaments and more.
"In striving to make a difference as far away as Nicaragua, they don't want to miss the opportunity to impact their own community," Mardirosian said.
Twenty-five of the teenagers and their family members picked up trash along 32 miles of main city streets in Tulsa.
