TULSA, Oklahoma -

Green Country is looking at a very active weather pattern for later this week with at least two separate storm systems bearing down upon the southern plains and our state.

The first system is expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Storms will fire along a dry line in western Oklahoma and move east during the afternoon and evening. They will most likely be severe west of I-35 but as they track east, they should lose some of their intensity.

One or two might still be strong to severe when they make it into Green Country late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.  That system will quickly exit Wednesday midday.

The second – and possibly stronger – system should arrived Thursday. Thursday night and through the day on Friday will most likely consist of showers and storms.  This storm system will be sticking around until Saturday, possibly Sunday. It may arrive with two or even three separate waves of storms.  Some storms will be severe with heavy rainfall and all modes of severe weather a possibility.

As we get closer to Thursday, we will most likely see the storm risk increase for Oklahoma.

Right now, we have conflicting data in regards to the second system and when it will move out of our area. Hopefully we’ll have a better handle on the data in the next few runs and can offer some better advice regarding the timing for the weekend.

The pattern may also be active for most of next week with additional storm systems moving across the southern and central plains.
