Some more work is being done to an already finished multi-million dollar road project near downtown. The City of Tulsa is grinding off fresh concrete. They said it is meant to improve the finished product and it doesn't damage the surface of the work they just completed.

The grinding is on Detroit and Martin Luther King, just north of the IDL downtown. The work takes off the surface of the concrete that was just finished up by a contractor.

The city of Tulsa says the final inspections determined the road was not smooth enough to meet specifications. They used a machine called a profilograph to measure the bumps, and say that end-of-project smoothing is now almost standard on road projects and that it doesn't hurt the quality of the road.

The city says this extra work after the road is finished, to smooth it out, is not a direct cost to taxpayers - the contractor has to absorb that as part of the job.
