TPD Investigating After Man Shot Multiple Times
TULSA, Oklahoma - Two men are on the run after Tulsa Police said they shot a man at his home near 41st and Garnett Monday.
Officers said one of the shooters knocked on the front door and waited for the victim to answer. When he answered, police said the man at the door shot him.
The victim ran out - heading to the back of the house - when another man started shooting.
Neighbor Brenda Luper said her daughter heard loud noises but didn't realize what it was.
"She goes, 'But I thought it was the neighbor,’ because he does a lot of home improvement work out of his garage, she goes, ‘I just thought it was him,'" Luper said.
Police said the victim was shot six times as he was running around the side of his house. They said the victim yelled for his wife, who then called police.
Officers are trying to piece together what led to the shooting.
"There's various stories from witnesses…from the victim, so we're still trying to figure that out," Office Brad Pierce said.
Luper has lived in the area for more than 30 years. She remembers the days when everyone sat on the porch and the neighbors all knew each other - she said that's not the case anymore.
"You hear the pops off and on all the time, police helicopter flies over this neighborhood a lot," Luper said.
She said the neighborhood is going down and she will be moving as soon as her daughter graduates from college.
"Now, you come home, you go straight into the house and shut the door behind you," she said.
If you know anything about the shooting, you’re asked to call the police.
