Eight Arrested For DUI In Tulsa Sobriety Checkpoint

Tulsa Police said they made eight DUI arrests and issued 75 citations in a sobriety checkpoint over the holiday weekend. From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, May 26, authorities stopped drivers around South Peoria Avenue and East 41st Street.

Eight people were arrested for driving under the influence, two people were arrested for other felonies, 75 drivers received citations and 73 got away with warnings, a TPD report states.

"Drivers are reminded to not drive after consuming intoxicating substances as well as to remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices, buckle their seatbelts and heed all warning signs while driving," a news release reads.

"It is the goal of the Riverside Traffic Unit to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions occurring within the city of Tulsa, especially those collisions involving intoxicated driving."

TPD, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies participated in the checkpoint.
