Police say an officer shot and killed a man who pulled a gun and pointed it at officers during a foot chase late Friday in east Tulsa.

They say the man matched the description of a man who had shot another person at a motel nearby.

Police answered a shooting call at the America's Value Inn in the 10100 block of East 11th Street at about 10:40 p.m. They found a man with a gunshot wound.  EMSA took him to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

Officers say witnesses gave police a description of the shooter and a short time later, police saw a man matching that description walking on 11th Street near Highway 169.

Officer Jeanne Mackenzie says when police stopped to talk with the man, he started running.

Police say the man pulled a handgun from his waistband and that is when a police officer shot him.

Tulsa homicide investigators are working the scenes of both shootings.

Police have not released the name of the man who was shot by the officer or the name of the officer who shot him, nor have they released the name of the shooting victim at America's Value Inn.
