(AP) - Quarterback Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State have put up crazy numbers in three nonconference wins this season. Now, the Cowboys face their first major test as they open Big 12 play. Sixth-ranked Oklahoma State will host Number 16 TCU in a game that could affect the national championship race.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Rookie Matt Olson hit his sixth home run in seven games to help the Oakland Athletics beat Texas 4-1 Friday night and damage the Rangers' playoff hopes. Texas, which had won four straight, dropped three-and-a-half games behind Minnesota for the second AL wild card. The Rangers are tied with the Los Angeles Angels.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Rafael Devers hit a three-run homer Friday night and the Boston Red Sox extended their AL East lead to four games with a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Boston overcame Scooter Gennett's fourth grand slam of the season for Cincinnati, which came in the first inning and set a record for the Reds.
