A former Cleveland police officer was charged Wednesday with petit larceny in Osage County. Anthony Russel Shouse is charged with taking a cash ticket at the Osage Casino on May 11.

Court records state a man at the casino lost a cash ticket valued at $750.

Shouse found the ticket "under circumstances which gave him knowledge or means of inquiring as to the true owner," the affidavit continues, but he took the ticket without making an effort to return it to the man or the casino.

The officer resigned May 26 after telling the Cleveland police chief he was the subject of an investigation out of Osage County. He had been with the department for about 10 years.

The crime is punishable by up to six months in the county jail and a fine of $10 to $500.
