Hot And Humid With Gusty Winds Across Eastern Oklahoma

Summertime weather is kicking into gear across eastern Oklahoma as much stronger winds and increasing humidity arrive for our Saturday.

We’ll have plenty more sunshine to go around once again for our Saturday, with some clouds mixing in at times. After the light winds of much of the past week, windier weather returns today as south winds gust up to 30 miles per hour this afternoon. Those windier conditions will also help usher in higher dew points and, therefore, higher humidity.

Look for highs in the upper 80s on average this afternoon, with a few spots potentially reaching the 90 degree mark. But an increase in humidity will make things feel a bit muggier, so it will likely feel a bit hotter than what the thermometer reads with heat index values pushing into the 90s. Those steady south winds won’t be going away anytime soon, and will keep our overnight lows much more mild for the next several days. Lows will hold mainly in the low 70s overnight into Sunday morning, setting us up for another somewhat hot day Sunday as highs climb into the low 90s. We’ll again deal with gusty south winds, and with muggier conditions in place our heat index values Sunday will push well into the mid to upper 90s. Hello, summer!

We’ll have a nearly carbon-copy forecast as we head into early next week with lows continuing to hold in the low 70s and highs in the low 90s through the first half of the week. South winds will remain gusty into Tuesday and Wednesday, and increased humidity will continue to keep things feeling rather muggy at times.
