TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Police were called to the scene of what may be an accidental shooting in east Tulsa Sunday morning, June 11. Officers tell News On 6 it happened at a duplex near 31st Street and Highway 169 just after 7 a.m.

An officer said a 19-year-old man has a gunshot wound to the chest and has been taken to surgery.

Police said they were initially told the man accidentally shot himself in the chest while alone in the living room. His girlfriend said she was in another room at the time.

Under further questioning, police said the girlfriend told them she and the 19-year-old man were wrestling with the gun and it went off once. Officers said it's not yet clear exactly what happened, and they took the girlfriend and her mother - who also lives at the home - downtown for questioning.

They don't expect to make any arrests at this time, News On 6 was told.

The wounded man is expected to survive, police said.
