Hello, Summer! Hot, Humid Days In Store For Green Country

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

More summer sun is shining across eastern Oklahoma as we’re in for another humid, windy, and toasty Sunday.

Mostly sunny skies will be the rule again today, with periods of clouds occasionally filtering through. The UV index will be soaring back up into the very high category by lunchtime, so keep the sunscreen handy!

Temperatures look to climb a couple degrees from yesterday, with most of us seeing highs right at or just above the 90 degree mark. But tack on the humidity, and it’ll feel like the mid 90s to perhaps upper 90s for our heat index values. South winds will also remain quite strong, with some gusts at or above 30 miles per hour.

We’ll be in “rinse and repeat” mode with the forecast as we head into the upcoming week as muggy, breezy, and hot conditions continue. Lows will hold in the low 70s overnight into Monday morning, setting us up for another hot day Monday as highs climb back into the low 90s with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s.

Hello, summer!

Very little change in temperatures is expected through much of the week. Muggy and breezy conditions will keep our lows in the 70s, with afternoon highs climbing back into the lower 90s and heat index values creeping closer to 100 almost every day this week. Humidity values will likely become steadily more uncomfortable as the week progresses, so make sure you’re staying hydrated!

We still see a bit of a shift towards a more unsettled weather pattern by late in the week. A few different rounds of scattered storms are expected to begin flaring up by next Thursday or Friday as some weak upper-level disturbances brush by our part of the country.

More specific details on the timing of these storms will become more clear over the next few days. We’ll keep you advised.
