Elk City Continues Recovery Efforts Five Weeks After Devastating Tornado

Elk City continues to rebuild after a tornado ravaged the southern end of the town on May 16.

At least 230 homes were damaged by the twister while 80 were completely destroyed.  The clubhouse of Elk City's Golf and Country club took heavy damage.  Workers completely destroyed the building a few days ago. 

Golf Pro and Country Club Manager Alex Alvarez has been conducting business out of a trailer, but says none of the members have complained.

"It's a process. But you're gonna get there. Oh, we're gonna get there, there's no question about it," Alvarez said.

 One Beckham County man was killed in the tornado and at least eleven people were injured.
