The man charged with the murder of Logan County Deputy Sheriff David Wade is bound for trial.

Judge Susan Worthington presided over Nathan LeForce’s preliminary hearing.

LeForce is charged with first degree murder, armed robbery, and stealing a car. Worthington found probable cause on Monday for the case to go to trial. LeForce's arraignment will be Nov 17.

In April, Wade was serving an eviction notice to John and Christine Lute. During their testimonies, both indicated that LeForce was at the house they were in the process of moving out of.

John Lute said LeForce was there the day before the shooting. He confirmed that at one point he saw LeForce with a black gun. He said on April 18, LeForce was hanging around and helping them move.

Christine Lute testified she heard gunshots and went outside to see Deputy Wade shot. She said she approached him, and he pulled a gun on her. She was in tears on the stand, and said she told Wade she wanted to help him and went to get him towels.

The landlord, Judy Antle, also testified. She called the Sheriff’s Office on April 18 to get the eviction on the Lute’s enforced. She was in her car in the driveway when she witnessed the shooting. Antle testified that Wade was stepping up from the gravel onto the grass when LeForce came out on the porch and shot Deputy Wade.

All three testified that LeForce took off in Deputy Wade’s sheriff’s truck.

The fourth person to testify was a young lady named Charnae Bottley. She is a student at Langston University, making her daily run to a gas station convenience store near school. She stated that LeForce approached her car and pointed his gun at her before he stole it.

After all four testimonies, Worthington determined there was enough proof of all three counts. She scheduled LeForce for a November arraignment.

On Monday, District Attorney Laura Thomas also filed for an additional aggravating factor in seeking the death penalty for LeForce.
