Jenks Head Football Coach Allan Trimble received a big honor this evening.

The school's football stadium is being renamed for him.

After he was diagnosed with ALS last summer, the Jenks community has rallied to support him.

Despite his battle with ALS, Trimble has done a lot for high school football in Oklahoma, coaching the Trojans and 13 state championships.

To honor him, Jenks Public Schools is officially changing the name of its football stadium from Hunter-Dwelley Field to Allan Trimble Stadium.

Trimble grew up in Cleveland, Oklahoma, and has been a head coach for 21 years.

He is in the Oklahoma High School Hall of Fame.

On top of those state championships he's also got 224 career wins, 15 district championships, and was a national most valuable coach.

He has been a constant figure for many to look up to and has publicly fought his battle with ALS.

Some of his mottos — patience, persistence and determination — have become so much more as he has fearlessly battled the disease.

"When you think about how many people have been a part of the tradition, how many great, great coaches, and great players, and like I said, so many visionaries that were on school boards way years past that somehow saw this coming and wanted to be a part of building it, it's pretty cool to be a part of that trip," Trimble said.

Trimble is coaching the football team this year.

The first home game will be next Friday against Owasso.
