By virtue of his all-around title at the P&G Championships Saturday night, OU men’s gymnastics junior Yul Moldauer earned a spot on the U.S. Men’s Team for the 2017 World Championships, USA Gymnastics announced Sunday.

Joining Moldauer as representatives of the United States at the World Championships Oct. 2-8 in Montreal will be Sam Mikulak, Donnell Whittenburg, Eddie Penev, Marvin Kimble and Sooner alumnus Alex Naddour.

2017 OU graduates Allan Bower and Colin Van Wicklen have also been named alternates for the squad.

The U.S. Men’s Team was finalized by the Men’s Program Committee, with selection based on performances at the P&G Championships this weekend.

Moldauer claimed the all-around national title Saturday night at the P&G Championships in Anaheim, Calif. The Arvada, Colo., native also won the 2017 American Cup and 2017 Winter Cup earlier this year.

Naddour won the individual event title on the pommel horse with a score of 30.550. Bower took second in the all-around, while Van Wicklen finished sixth in the all-around.

Oklahoma’s men’s gymnastics program swept a trio of USA Gymnastics awards Monday, as Moldauer, head coach Mark Williams and former Sooner Alex Naddour took home annual honors following last weekend’s P&G Championships in Anaheim, Calif.

Moldauer was named the organization’s Sportsperson of the Year after he won his first national title in the all-around at the P&G Championships. He will compete on the six-person U.S. team at the World Championships held in Montreal Oct. 2-8.

Williams earned his fourth Coach of the Year accolade while Naddour, a 2016 Olympic medalist, claimed Athlete of the Year. Winner of the pommel horse crown in Anaheim on Saturday, Naddour was also named to the World Championships team.

U.S. team alternates include 2017 Sooner graduates Allan Bower and Colin Van Wicklen, who finished second and sixth, respectively, in the all-around at the P&G Championships.
