A woman and man are in custody after an apparent crime spree in Creek County.

Deputies said it started about five miles northwest of Mounds around 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, when a neighbor spotted a burglary in progress and called the Creek County Sheriff's Office.

They said the truck a couple was in sped away from the scene and into a ditch.

Deputies said another truck pulling a hay trailer offered to help but were carjacked buy the couple.

Deputies said the couple eventually flipped the second stolen vehicle in a ditch and ran into a wooded area.

A News On 6 crew spotted the man hiding in the bushes in Mounds and called authorities.

Minutes later he was in custody.

Paramedics treated the man for a bit from a K9 officer.

"Good Samaritans stopped to help them out in the ditch and when they did, the suspects got in their vehicle and took off with their hay truck and hay trailer," said Chief Deputy Fred Clark.

When a deputy got to the scene, the two people drove off in that truck, dumping hay all over the road.

A short time later, they crashed the truck and trailer, and ran into the woods.

Keith Mangrum was in his front yard when he heard the sirens. He said the pickup and trailer came flying around the corner.

"Just all over the road, and the cop wasn't too far behind him it all just broke loose, the loud noise the crash," Mangrum said.
