Tulsa police are investigating after they found a body inside a home near Kingston and Pine.

Police are calling it the city's 63rd homicide of the year.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Kingston Place Monday afternoon.

When they arrived, officers found a man, later identified as 51-year-old Christopher Boyle, dead inside a home.

Boyle's live-in girlfriend, Sunny Jones, 42, later turned herself into police in connection to his death.

There have been domestic violence incidents between the couple in the past, police said.

Detectives said just after noon, family members were told they might want to do a welfare check on the man.

Homicide investigators later combed the area around the house after receiving a call from a worried family member.

"You might want to check on your brother. There were rumors he was down in the house and needed medical care," said Tulsa Sergeant Dave Walker.

When police arrived they found the victim dead from gunshot wounds, saying there was too much blood and too many shell casings to be ruled a suicide.

A gun was also found inside the home.

Detectives said when they tried to get inside the home, it was difficult because the man was leaning against the front door as they tried to get inside.

Once they could get it open, they noticed there had been gunshots inside the house.

"You can't really tell if he died of a gunshot would but there is enough blood in there to indicate this is not going to be a suicide. The gun is inside the house.  A gun is inside the house and it looks like it was the one used," Walker said.

Neighbors told us they had heard the couple fighting Sunday evening and the last time the victim had been seen was around 9 or 10 p.m.

Walker said the couple had been together for 15 years.
