Historic Education Bond Issue Hits Owasso Ballots

Posted: Updated:
OWASSO, Oklahoma -

Residents will vote October 10th on a $57 million bond issue proposed by Owasso Public schools, the largest in the district’s history.

With the state continuing to cut funds to education, the district said this vote is especially important.

Owasso Superintendent Dr. Clark Ogilvie said, “Bond funds help offset the pain of those cuts by providing funds for vital functions such as transportation, technology, textbooks and construction that usually come from general operating funds.”

He added that with general operating funds freed up, the district can hire new teachers and provide competitive salaries.

The bond issue includes plans for a new elementary school, a new science wing for the high school, and 3 new F-5 rated safe-room gymnasiums.

The Tulsa County Election Board urges those who wish to vote by absentee ballot to apply by October 4th.
