Feels Like Summer, But It Is Fall Across Eastern Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Fall is now “officially” here, but we have another weekend of summer heat to get through before that fall feeling returns to Green Country!

Our recent trend of well above normal temperatures continues for our Saturday with a good amount of sunshine again on the way. Look for a steady south-southeast breeze to help push our highs back into the low 90s this afternoon. Stay hydrated during all those outdoor activities!

The summer pattern will hold firm heading into Sunday as well, with a few small changes. Expect a few more clouds to bubble up during the daytime hours on Sunday, and with just enough moisture around a few isolated storms could bubble up by Sunday afternoon. Outside of any storms, it’ll be another very warm and humid day with highs back in the upper 80s to around 90 on Sunday.

Our next fall front begins to approach as we start the work week, though we still won’t quite be feeling its effects on Monday. Clouds will be on the increase as showers and storms develop west of Green Country, but we’ll still stay quite warm for one more day with highs still in the mid to upper 80s on Monday.

That long-awaited front will begin a gradual push into eastern Oklahoma on Tuesday, and with it comes a chance for scattered showers and storms. Rain chances will continue into Wednesday as well before the front shoves further south and ushers in much drier air by Thursday.

The main upper-level forcing with this system will stay north of Green Country, meaning rains may not be too widespread on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately, that means rainfall amounts look to be less than an inch for most locations.

But you fall weather fans will definitely be rejoicing by mid to late week! Behind that cold front our highs will return to the 70s, just in time for the kick-off of the Tulsa State Fair on Thursday!
