Alfa Laval To Add Another Facility At Broken Arrow Site

Posted: Updated:
BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

Business is booming in Broken Arrow and it's getting Governor Mary Fallin's attention as she made her way to Green Country Thursday.

But, the president of manufacturing company Alfa Laval made the trip from the other side of the world for a special announcement.

The company plans to add another building right behind the two existing buildings in Broken Arrow.

The expansion is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to BA.

All the way from Sweden, Alfa Laval President Mikael Tyden made the trip to Broken Arrow.

"This is a fantastic occasion and I'm really happy with all the support we are getting," Tyden said.

His company already employs about 200 people in Green Country, and Alfa Laval is ready to hire more.

They're looking for engineers and welders to help build their heat exchangers.

The company expects to hire about 100 people in the first phase of the expansion, and roughly 300 total by the time it's done.

"We'll take all the jobs we can get - and they are, by the way, good-paying jobs," Fallin said.

Broken Arrow general manager Chris Jungers calls Oklahoma the heat transfer capital of the world, so it makes sense for Alfa Laval to keep growing here.

"They wanna hear what's happening locally, they wanna combine that with maybe some things they know from the international perspective," Jungers said.

Tyden said the company also considered Richmond and Indianapolis for this expansion.

"They chose Oklahoma and I think it speaks well that we're diversifying our economy. That we're able to attract big, international companies to our state," Fallin said.

The new building is expected to be completed sometime in early 2019.
