Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust In Wagoner

Posted: Updated:
WAGONER, Oklahoma -

A traffic stop led to a big drug bust in Wagoner County, with police finding $3,000 worth of cocaine, meth, and marijuana in the suspect's home.

Two generations of a Green Country family helped get a wanted suspect off the streets in Wagoner County.

For the past two weeks, the officers in the District 27 Drug Task Force have been focusing their efforts there. Officers stopped a car and found drugs inside, which led them to Angelo Coulter's home in Wagoner.

"We had been watching him for some time and that was our chance," said Officer TJ Ponds with Wagoner Police. "Angelo observed us in his front yard and he then slammed the front door and locked it."

Officers had a search warrant, so they broke through the front door and arrested Coulter.

During their sweep of the home, police said they found about 24 grams of crack cocaine and 22 grams of powder cocaine, in addition to meth and marijuana.

Coulter had been selling the drugs from his home, police said.

The bust holds a special meaning for Ponds, whose father is the deputy chief in Wagoner County and arrested Coulter years ago on drug charges.

"I feel amazing. My father, I watched him work narcotics for 13 years. I promised myself that if I was able to come back I'd make a difference," Ponds said.

For Ponds and the rest of the District 27 Drug Task Force, the arrest is just the beginning.

"We're not gonna stop here. We're gonna continue to keep fighting, we're gonna continue putting bad guys away and continue working together in this county," Ponds said.

Coulter is being held in the Wagoner County Jail.
