ORLANDO, Florida - Former Oklahoma quarterback and offensive coordinator Josh Heupel has been hired to lead Central Florida Knights.

Just two years removed from going 0-12, the Knights turned in an undefeated season capped with an American Athletic Conference championship under the direction of Scott Frost. Frost was hired by Nebraska last Saturday.

Heupel joined Bob Stoops' staff at OU in 2004 as a graduate assistant and worked his way up to offensive coordinator. The Sooners fired Heupel in 2015 and after a season in Utah State, he's been the offensive coordinator at Missouri for the past two years.
