A group of 4- and 5-year-olds at Primrose School in northwest Oklahoma City are getting into the holiday spirit by giving back to veterans.

Primrose student Myles Griffith now has a father serving overseas.

When the school's staff realized he wouldn't be home for the holidays, they enlisted the help of the community to bring pieces of home to him and his fellow servicemen.

Myles's dad Clint is currently serving in the military in the 2120th engineering unit with 150 other soldiers in the Middle East.

His dad is part of Operation Inherent Resolve, an effort to rebuild infrastructure and utilities.

Students staff and parents joined forces this holiday season to put together 12 to 15 care packages with various themes for soldiers serving with Myles's dad. The way Myles explained it, he's taking care of the heroes that take care of him.

"(He) takes care of our country and everybody loves him, because all of those Army guys take care of our country," Myles said.

"It makes you a little teary eyed to hear him talk about how much he misses his dad and he loves his dad and how he knows what his dad does and he wants to be just like him," Primrose School staff member Kim Waterman said.

The community response has been so great, Primrose School of NW Oklahoma City, 6101 NW 139, will continue accepting donations throughout the year.
