Grass Fire Threatens Structure In Mayes County

MAYES COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A grass fire burned hundreds of acres and threatened a building in Mayes County Thursday afternoon.

Several fire departments responded to the grass fire between Highway 20 and Highway 69 A between Pryor and Salina.

The building being threatened was an old Carbide plant.

The fire departments were able to get the fire under control before any of the structure burned.

They said about 200 or 300 acres burned.
