STILLWATER, Oklahoma - A martyred priest with ties to Oklahoma is being honored in a special way.

The new St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater placed first-class relics of Stanley Rother in the altar Sunday.

A dedication of the new church was held Sunday morning.

St. Francis Xavier is the result of two parishes combining into one.

Father Rother was from Okarche, Oklahoma and served at Tulsa's Holy Family Cathedral in the mid-1960s.

Rother was honored during a beatification ceremony last year, clearing the way for him to become the first Oklahoma priest to be recognized as a saint by the Catholic church.
