2 Men Found Dead Inside Stolen Vehicle In NW OKC

The search is on for a double murder suspect. Oklahoma City police officers discovered two men dead inside an SUV that crashed in a neighborhood near west Memorial and County Line Road.

Early Friday morning, officers responded to what they thought was a traffic accident in the northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood. As the minutes passed, neighbors woke up to crime scene tape and flashing patrol lights.

Investigators suspect foul play is involved after finding two victims with head trauma inside the crashed SUV.

“This trauma appears to have happened prior to the actual accident,” said Officer Megan Morgan, Oklahoma City Police Department.  

A neighbor two homes down from where the SUV came to a rest did not want to speak to News 9 on camera, but shared video of the vehicle moments before the crash. It appeared to be speeding down the street.

Tires tracks through the neighborhood show the path the car took. The SUV demolished a brick mailbox before stopping in front of an empty lot.

Police have identified the two victims but are not releasing names until their families are notified.

“As of now we are saying they are a 42-year-old white male who is the driver of the vehicle,” said Officer Morgan. “And a 23-year-old white male who was the front seat passenger.”

Police are not commenting on how the victims died or why they were in the neighborhood. Investigators do know the SUV they were driving was stolen and a suspect is now on the run.

“Right now, the investigation is early and ongoing,” said Officer Morgan. “Nobody is in custody. We are asking that if anybody has any information to contact the homicide tip line.”

The wrecked SUV was reported stolen out of Oklahoma City on Thursday. Police are now keeping the vehicle as evidence. The owner said she had several personal items inside that she hopes to get back soon. She was notified Friday morning after the vehicle was found wrecked.
