TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office had good news to report after a family's truck stolen Friday was returned. The red Chevy truck belonged to the Greenhaw family's teenage son, Cody, who died tragically in 2004.

Since then, his family has held onto the truck as a way to remember him.

“It had great sentimental value to our family,” said Greenhaw.  “Our son died when he was 16 years old in 2004 and his truck was something that he had worked the whole summer before he turned 16 years old to fix up, to get a lift on it, and get a stereo.”

TCSO started a social media campaign to get the word out about the truck which had been taken from the parking lot of a business on Whirlpool Drive. A man contacted Tulsa Police on Monday claiming he had bought the truck from another man on Friday night for $120 - and, just like that, Greenhaw says, her prayers were answered.

“You feel closer.  We know it’s not our son, it’s not Cody, but when you’re riding in it, you know those memories,” stated Greenhaw.  “I was praying and believing that we were going to get it back.”

Greenhaw says there is a couple thousand dollars worth of damage to the truck, but she's happy to have it back.

"You just feel closer to him when you're in it," said Greenhaw.

Cody lost his life to a drug overdose after a parent-supervised party.

Cody's tragic loss inspired Mark and Sareva to push for legislation that made it a felony for adults to permit underage kids to drink and do drugs.
