Company "Flash Funds" Thousands Of Teacher Grants
TULSA, Oklahoma - A company "flash funded" thousands of grants for teachers Tuesday, $29 million in all, and Oklahoma schools will benefit.
At Tulsa's Kendall-Whittier elementary, grants from "Donors Choose" are paying for new supplies in kindergarten classrooms.
The new money will buy "project-based" learning equipment including mirrors that help children learn to sound out words.
"It's just something really good to have to make the teaching day easier and it's better for the kids to have the supplies that they need," said Kindergarten Teacher Soraya Javaher.
A local partner of "donors choose" - "Impact Tulsa" - matched some of the money from the major donor and still will match new donations for projects in Tulsa area schools.
