Precious Regalia Found After Strange Turn Of Events

A man was reunited with his stolen regalia after a strange turn of events Sunday.

Cecil and Hauli Gray, of Yukon, reported their truck missing Friday.

The Grays were more concerned however, about Cecil’s priceless regalia, which was in the trunk.

“I'm half Cheyenne and half Kiowa. That's part of who I am,” Cecil said. 

The Grays posted some grainy surveillance video to Facebook and filed a police report.

They were beginning to wonder if they’d have to live without the hand-beaded eagle-adorned regalia, which Cecil uses for traditional Native American dances and gatherings.

“We just want to move forward and get past that,” Hauli told News 9 Sunday afternoon.

Just moments after New 9 interviewed the Grays, things turned around when a mysterious man called the News 9 studios.

He told a producer the Gray’s truck was left behind the Harding Fine Arts Academy Building in Oklahoma City, then hung up.

When the News 9 crew and police arrived, the truck was indeed, parked behind the building, as was the regalia.

The Grays came from Yukon to retrieve their precious items, but were much more concerned about the regalia than the vehicle.

“I'm not worried about my truck. I'm worried about this,” Cecil said of his regalia.

Police took some DNA samples from the truck and will no work to try to figure out who took it in the first place.

The thief also made several charges on the Gray’s credit cards.

For now, Cecil says he’s just focusing on the good news.

“I was told to keep the faith and that's all you can do, and just trust in God that he's going to come through for us,” Cecil said.
